The Herzliya Wastewater Treatment Plant is a central pillar in the region’s environmental infrastructure, carrying critical responsibility for treating contaminated water and converting it into clean, safe water suitable for reuse. Wastewater treatment is a complex, multi-stage process, at the heart of which lies the ability to break down and separate organic and inorganic pollutants from the water.
As part of this process, wastewater is directed into large treatment basins where specialized bacteria “consume” organic matter and assist in its decomposition. To enable these bacteria to function optimally, the water must be enriched with a precise amount of oxygen. This is where aeration systems based on compressed air come into play. The injected air creates bubbling that both supplies essential oxygen for the biological process and helps lift and separate impurities from the water, ensuring an effective and stable treatment outcome.
Automation Yeruham has been supporting the Herzliya Wastewater Treatment Plant for over a decade, a long-term partnership built on trust, professionalism, and a deep understanding of the client’s needs and processes. After years of successful collaboration, the client requested to extend the agreement for an additional ten years, alongside a clear requirement to maintain the existing screw blower technology and control system. The main challenge of the project was to deliver an advanced system that meets exceptionally stringent requirements. First and foremost, the solution needed to ensure continuous, uncompromising reliability over time. In addition, the client required the preservation of the plant’s energy efficiency while maintaining optimal performance. This included the implementation of a smart control system capable of dynamically managing operations, adapting to changing plant conditions, and reducing both energy consumption and operating hours.
The solution provided by Automation Yeruham was a comprehensive turnkey project, covering all stages-from characterization and engineering to equipment supply and installation-while ensuring uninterrupted plant operation throughout the process. As part of the project, three oil-free screw blowers, model ZS 200 VSD by Atlas Copco, among the most advanced in the world, were installed. These blowers are specifically designed for applications requiring high and stable airflow over extended periods.
